Melbourne Victory vs Perth Glory Betting Tips
October 23, 2018
Defending A-League champions Victory will be looking to claim their first points of the new season and make amends for an opening 2-1 defeat at home to local rivals Melbourne City at the Marvel Stadium last week. The defeat was all the more disappointing as they had taken the lead in the match with a debut goal from Japanese legend Keisuke Honda.
It was still a highly contentious goal that drew City level in their 2-1 win against Victory last week though, with Bruno Fornaroli going down very easily on the edge of the Victory box. It was a doubtful foul, but the whistle went and a free kick was awarded, only for the VAR review to advise referee Kurt Ams review that the phantom foul had taken place inside the penalty area.

Victory goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas pushed the spot-kick onto the post, but any thoughts of justice being served were quickly ended as Ritchie de Laet smashed home the rebound.
Glory started their campaign with a relatively disappointing home result too, dropping two points in a 1-1 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers after veteran Irish striker Andy Keogh had given them a first-half advantage.
Last season’s games between the teams resulted in two wins for Victory (2-0 at the nib Stadium and 3-2 at AAMI Park), before Glory claimed the spoils in the last meeting of the campaign (1-0 at nib Stadium).
The teams have already met each other once this season, with Victory prevailing 1-0 at the BGC Stadium (Dorrien Gardens) in Perth in the last 32 of the FFA Cup, courtesy of a goal from New Zealand international Kosta Barbarouses. Victory went out in the next round anyway, going down to a 3-2 defeat at APIA Leichhardt Tigers of the National Premier Leagues in the last 16.
The odds here naturally favor Victory, who are available at 1.75 with Unibet, with the draw on offer at 4.15 with bet365* and Glory at 4.35 with TopBetta. In the Match Result with Both Teams to Score (BTTS) market, Victory appeal at 1.60 with Neds*.
