Gold Coast Titans welcome Melbourne Storm to the Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday evening.

Although the Storm top the Premiership standings with just two rounds of matches in the regular season remaining, it’s so tight among the leading eight clubs that they are still not assured of a top four finish as yet.

After a couple of straight defeats, the Storm returned to winning ways last Friday with a 20-4 victory against the Parramatta Eels at AAMI Park.  The Titans also got a couple of points after having lost five of their previous six games, in winning 42-34 away to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

As things stand the Storm are level on points with both the Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs, but sit above both on account of having a superior points’ differential, with the Storm having +177, the Roosters +161 and the Rabbitohs +116.

Should any of the three co-leaders slip up over their remaining two matches, they could slip out of the top four, with St. George Illawarra Dragons, Penrith Panthers and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks all just a couple of points behind, albeit with inferior points differentials too.

There’s not a great deal besides professional pride riding on the game for the Titans, who currently sit 12th in the standings and with any hope of a place in the finals series long gone.

When the teams met back in Game Week 10 back in May, the Storm eventually ran out comfortable 28-14 winners at AAMI Park, although they did trail at the interval.

Centre Will Chambers will miss the next three games for the Storm after he accepted a dangerous contact charge from the league’s judiciary following his ‘crusher’ tackle on Parramatta Eels’ Jarryd Hayne during last week’s victory.

On the plus side, talismanic hooker Cameron Smith should feature after he failed to return for the second period against the Eels after leaving the field with a back spasm.

The Titans are 2.90 to win on Saturday with Unibet, with the Storm warm 1.52 favourites with bet365*, who also have the draw available to bet at 26.00.  Backing the Storm to win by 1-12 points at 3.10 with bet365* could be the way to get a higher return.
