Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Stars BBL Semi Final Betting Tips and Odds
February 11, 2019
After 56 games and plenty of highlights, there are four teams left in the 2018-19 Big Bash League. On Thursday, minor premiers the Hobart Hurricanes host the Melbourne Stars in the first semi at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena. The prize: a spot in the final against the Melbourne Renegades or Sydney Strikers.
Hurricanes, Stars Looking to Make History
The Hurricanes and Stars are both still searching for their first title. The best either of these sides could manage in the first seven BBL campaigns was a losing grand final: the Hurricanes last season and the Stars in 2015/16.
Hobart have been the best team all season and are deserved 3.10 premiership favourites at bet365. They have a 5-0 record this season at Blundstone, their primary home ground. They began that run with a six-wicket victory over the Stars on December 24, Matthew Wade leading from the front with 52 from 37 balls. The Hurricanes have a 2-0 record over the Stars this season, having beaten them by 59 runs in the return match at the MCG.
The Stars enjoyed the perfect warm-up to this match, thrashing the Sydney Sixers by 94 runs at the MCG in the final match of the home and away season. But they’ve won only one of six away games outside Victoria this season.

Hurricanes v Stars Betting Tips
Hobart have averaged 5.4 sixes per game this season, while conceding 5.0 per game. The Stars, on the other hand, have scored only 3.9 sixes per game and conceded 4.1 per game. Hobart’s batsmen, led by the league’s two top run scorers in D’Arcy Short and Matthew Wade, are in fine form. It’s a good thing then that Neds is offering 1.85 for the Hurricanes to score more sixes than the Stars.
