2019 AFL Round 4 - Geelong Cats v GWS Giants Betting Tips 13-04-2019
April 11, 2019
Take a look over this week’s AFL matches, and it’s clear the match of the round is Geelong v GWS. The Cats are top of the ladder with a perfect three wins from three matches. GWS are fourth with a 2-1 record and a healthy percentage, and can knock the Cats from top spot on Saturday at Geelong’s GMHBA Stadium.
Geelong v GWS Betting Preview
The fact Geelong is 3-0 might not seem all that impressive until you look at who they’ve beaten. The Cats have defeated three of the top five teams in pre-season AFL premiership betting: Collingwood, Melbourne, and Adelaide away. Coach Chris Scott has found the balance that was missing last year, with the “holy trinity” of Gary Ablett, Patrick Dangerfield, and Joel Selwood working seamlessly with the Cats’ young guns. It also helps that the Cats are conceding only 62 points per game, the equal-best in the league.

At their best, GWS are as good as anyone, and they were scary against Richmond on the weekend. The Giants won virtually every stat on their way to beating the pre-season flag favourites by 49 points. You’d have to go a long way back in the record books to find the last time two forwards from the same team kicked five goals, which is exactly what Jeremy Cameron (7 goals) and Jeremy Finlayson (5) did on the weekend.

Geelong v GWS Betting Tips
Can the Cats keep this good run of form going? History says they can, given the last two games between these sides were played in Geelong, with the Cats running out 61-point winners in 2018 and 44-point winners in 2017. Unibet has Geelong at -16.5 points in line betting.
Geelong strangled usually high-scoring opponents in their first three matches. Can they do it against a free-wheeling Giants side that scored 19 goals last weekend? Bet365 is paying 1.87 for one of these teams to score less than 69 points.
