The Seahawks and Broncos meet in what is only the second Super Bowl of the last 20 years to feature the top seed of each conference and Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman believes that Super Bowl XLVIII will be all the better for it.

Sherman said: “It doesn’t happen like this too often when both No. 1 seeds make it. It’s a testament to the hard work of both teams and I’m sure it’s going to be a fantastic game.”

The contest also throws up the exciting prospect of the league’s top offence (Broncos) coming up against the NFL’s best defence (Seahawks.) Denver leads the NFL’s points scoring standings with 606, but they will be pitted against a Seattle side that top the NFL in number of points allowed with 231.

Sherman added: “We wouldn’t have it any other way. They’re an unbelievable record-setting offense, with a Hall of Fame quarterback (Peyton Manning.)

“That’s as tough as it gets. The Number one defence against the number one offence.”

Sherman’s prediction was backed up by Bronco’s tight end Julius Thomas, who added: “It’s the Super Bowl, so it’s going to be tough.

“Nothing is going to come easy. This is for all the marbles, so I’m pretty sure it will be a tough game all around.”
