Perth International Golf: Who'll Be Best In The West?

Former US open champion Geoff Ogilvy recently announced he’ll return to the Pert International and the 37 year old’s appearance is a major coup for the tournament in late October

The Perth international Open will be held in late October and Sportsbet which offers new customers a $250 welcome bonus when signing up via au.freebets.com will be where punters will be heading to get all the odds and offers.

Former US open champion Geoff Ogilvy recently announced he’ll return to the tournament and the 37 year old’s appearance is a major coup for the open. The Aussie had his first tour victory since 2010 earlier this month, after winning the Barracuda Championship. It wasn’t a great surprise with Ogilvy having a decent run in this year’s PGA tour. He’ll be hoping to continue his strong form in Perth, a city has hasn’t played at since the start of the new millennium.

More big names will be heading to Western Australia for the tournament. Charismatic Frenchman Victor Dubuisson is currently in the top 25 players in the world and will be one to watch, while last year’s 2013 US PGA Champion Jason Dufner could also steal the show in Perth. Dufner came close in the inaugural event in 2012 finishing second and the world number 16 is a big chance to go one better.

New South Welshman Steven Bowditch will be among the hopefuls and proved he can handle the pressure after earning his maiden PGA Tour title at the Texas Open in April. The loudest cheers will be reserved for local favourite Brett Rumford and fans will be hoping the five time European Tour champion can get the Chocolates against some tough rivals. But Jin Jeong won’t want to relinquish his title, the Australian based Korean was too good in last year’s tournament.

Now in its third year the Perth International Open is Australia’s richest golfing event and the Lake Karrinyup Country Club will be bustling from October 23 to 26. But before the tournament begins punters will be doing their homework and following form as they determine just who’ll be the best in the west. And if you can’t find a winner there’ll be a whole range of markets available closer to tee-off.
