Held at the prestigious Sydney Cricket Ground, this evening game will bring up the curtain on the 2014 MLB season. A second afternoon game will then follow on Sunday March 23.

The series will be the first time the two sides meet since a controversial incident last season. The Diamondbacks took exception to a number of Dodgers celebrating clinching the National League West by jumping in the pool at Chase Field.

Add in two seperate brawls between the two sides in a game last June as well and it’s safe to say the two sides aren’t on the best of terms.

However, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly revealed that he had spoked to his opposite number Kirk Gibson about the incident at Chase Field.

Mattingly told ESPN.com: “Kirk talked about it a bit yesterday. It’s a rivalry when you play somebody 19 times a year in your own division.

“Those games get heated. These guys play hard, and they’re tough. For us, what happened last year is over and we should move forward and play.”
