Not much to say here other than he was a dominant winner of the Group One Metropolitan in the Sydney Spring Carnival and if he produces that from again he will likely be the winner.

3 times Group One winner Fawkner’s on a quick back up from last weekend’s Cox Plate and is just into double figures. Ok run last start, nowhere near winner WINX, though nothing was! The grey gelding will need some luck from a wide gate but returns to the scene of his last elite level victory. That was the Makybe Diva Stakes first up in September.

There’s been big wraps on PORNICHET for some time now and after a pretty disappointing campaign he appeared to bounce back somewhere near his best in the Cox Plate. Ripping run for fourth in that and has a good record in 2000 metre or more races in Australia. 2 wins from 5 starts at this distance for the $9 chance.

STRATUM STAR has been unbelievable this prep and easily made the distance last start, winning comfortably. Wide gate could be an issue for the second favourite ($7.50). Not much known about overseas runner MAGIC ARTIST ($13) but the 5 year old is German and Germans are usually efficient… Perhaps watch for betting moves.
