Louis' Leaving Everyone Guessing at Manchester United

Manchester United are chasing A Champion's League place but something's not quite right with the Red Devils.

Manchester United may be unbeaten in 7 matches, in the FA Cup Quarter Finals and sitting third on the English Premier League Table but the truth be told something isn’t right with the Red Devils. They’ve somehow been winning games lately; although it appears it’s been due to luck and playing weaker opposition. Lois Van Gaal’s signings, shape and tactics have been under the microscope all season and the Dutchman’s daft attempts to explain his side’s style caused more questions the answers.

Louis Lost us with Long Ball Logic but the Short Stats Say he’s not Wrong

When West Ham coach Sam Allardyce voiced his opinion about United’s apparent long ball approach during the two sides recent Premier League fixture; his opposite number responded in a bizarre fashion. The United boss bamboozled media when he presented facts and figures at his next press conference trying to highlight his team wasn’t just bombing the ball forward! So do Man U hoof it? Well United have attempted the most long passes in the EPL but they’ve also had plenty of possession. With 13 rounds remaining Man U are actually 13th on the table for long balls played while they’re 8th in the short passes stats. So Perhaps Van Gaal has a point though he made it clear as mud! Still many experts and fans are questioning numerous other aspects of his side’s performances.

Guessing Games at Man United

Louis Van Gaal has left many wondering if he knows what he’s doing at Manchester United. The Red Devils seem to have different tactics from match to match while their formation changes throughout games. For all their attacking superstars Man U have been rather disappointing in the final third. Radamel Falcao’s multi-million dollar loan has been painful to watch and while it’s clear the striker’s short on confidence he hasn’t really been given a run of games to find his form. Juan Mata’s gone from one of the league’s most influential players with Chelsea, to an orange peeler; with Van Gaal preferring to play Wayne Rooney in the midfield, despite the England forward’s best position being up front. Right now it’s somewhat of a guessing game as to who’ll play in what position every time United take the field. But Super coach Van Gaal has the reputation and resume to make you believe him when he says he’ll get things right. Even if it’s not this season, if they make the Champions League he’s done a job.

Champions League Lottery

Currently Man United are on track to retake their spot in Europe’s Premier Competition but there are a whole host of teams breathing down their neck. The Red Devils sit just 5 points clear of Liverpool in Seventh, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Southampton in between the bitter rivals, all gunning for a top 4 finish. While the 2012/2013 champions have picked up 10 from a possible 12 points since losing to Southampton in mid-January; they haven’t faced any opponents trying to take their Champions League Place. Those big battles however are coming… Man U will face five of the current top seven teams before the season is over! They’ll likely drop plenty more points before their campaign ends especially on the form they’re showing at the moment. But will Van Gaal’s men keep doing to enough to remain in the first 4?
