Will One of Waller’s Win the George Main Stakes?

New South Wales trainer Chris Waller has 3 runners in the field with MORIARTY, KERMADEC and Royal DESCENT. The latter’s been runner up in the race in the last 2 years and is paying around $4.40 with Ladbrokes to take the next step on Saturday. While MORIARTY ($81) is the biggest priced horse, KERMADEC is at the shortest odds. The 4 year old finished second in the Group One Chelmsford Stakes last start over the same track and distance and with a better barrier draw this time it’s at just under $3 to triumph. And favourites have had a pretty good record in the race in the past 10 years, 5 have won it while only 3 have failed to place.

PORNICHET is a good horse but needs to hit top form. The Gai Waterhosue trained runner was a bit flat in the Chelmsford but could win this with a proper performance. Blake Shinn rides the $7 hope.  SWEYNESSE ($13) has placed at the top level over the track and distance and will surely be fitter second up after an ok effort fresh in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes a fortnight ago. HOOKED beat everyone home in the Tramway and looks the value runner of this race at $12.While Group One winner LUCIA VALENTINA shouldn’t be dismissed either after charging home in the Tramway. The mare is around $6.50
