With both sides of Melbourne colliding in what should be a tense clash, Stars’ David Hussey insists that he will be looking to take down a number of his fellow Victorian Bushrangers who turn out for the Renegades.

The veteran batsman said: “For me it’s playing against your mates and you always want to beat your mates, they won the two games against us last year so we owe them big time this year.”

Hussey also said that having wicketkeeper/batsman Matthew Wade available was a “Huge inclusion” and also backed himself to get in amongst the runs on Friday night.

He said: “(Wade) did so well in One-Day cricket for Australia and he’s made a couple of Test match hundreds, so he’s a high-class player.

“We’re really looking forward to him to sliding into number three or the back end of an innings to win games for the Melbourne Stars.

“I’m in a pretty good place batting wise (too.) I am seeing the ball early so, hopefully, I’ll be able to score a few runs (as well.)”
