Goodwood at a Glance

The Goodwood is the only Group One sprint held in Adelaide which is open to both sexes and it’s usually a fair fight. That’s of course barring 2012 when world beater Black Caviar made the trip over from Victoria to dominate her rivals. Peter Moody’s darling of Australian Racing is one of just 4 favourites to have won the event in the past 27 years. Smokin’ Joey caused a boil over to win the Goodwood at around $40 last year he’s roughly half that price to do so again.

Plenty of Runners Plenty of Hopes

As is usually the case the Goodwood has attracted a large field and finding an outright favourite hasn’t been easy. Hometown hero HUCKLEBUCK has drawn well, he’ll jump from barrier 3 first up. He runs well fresh, proving that last Spring when he won the Group One Emirate Stakes. LUCKY HUSSLER is coming off a solid sixth in the Group One all Aged Stakes in Sydney, previous to that he won the William Reid Stakes at Mooney Valley! He’s definitely among the chances. LORD OF THE SKY has been exceptional in his last two starts in Australia two hardest sprint races; the Newmarket Handicap and TJ Smith Stakes. He’ll be the horse to beat if he can repeat his latest performance. Perth galloper BLACK HEART BART is aiming for a fifth consecutive win. The previous 4 have all been at stakes level and by sizeable margins. That form is hard to argue with but will it stand up to the opposition in this race?

Sign up with William Hill so you can save your money this weekend if your Goodwood runner finishes second or third! Hopefully though you’ll pick the winner!
