With the Lightning Stakes moved back a week, the CF Orr stakes at Caulfield on Saturday is the first Group 1 race to be held in Australia this year.

Nine entries have accepted for the 1400m weight for age race led by three-year-old All Too Hard who is looking to land his second top class event after winning the Caulfield Guineas last spring racing carnival. All Too Hard will be ridden from the outside barrier by jockey Dwayne Dunn and is top priced at $2.50 with UK online bookmaker, bet365.

King Mufhasa is the reigning New Zealand Horse of the Year and new trainer Bruce Wallace has accepted in preference to Tuesday’s Waikato Sprint, a Group 1 race he has previously won twice and placed twice. The eight-year-old is available at $4.50 with Sportingbet and will run from the inside barrier with Michael Rodd up top.

Peter Snowden’s Pinwheel bids for his first Group 1 win after seven unsuccessful attempts. The seven-year-old finished second in the Group 2 Essendon Mazda Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley two weeks ago and is next in the betting at $6.50 with Sportingbet, drawn barrier four. Mick Price’s Callanish will be attempting to maintain his unbeaten record of eight from eight, Dale Smith rides from stall five and the four-year-old is upped in class after landing the Seymour Cup last October. Drawn barrier five, the son of Fastnet Rock is priced $9.00 at Sportsbet.

German-bred Mawingo represents Anthony Freedman’s stable and the five-year-old son of Tertullion out of a Saddlers Wells mare is rated £12.00 at Sportsbet. He’ll be ridden from barrier two by Craig Williams. Also in the CF Orr line up will be Group 1 winner Mr Moet, making his first appearance on the East Coast after winning 12 of his 27 starts in Western Australia, including the Railway Stakes at Ascot during the summer carnival. The five-year-old will be ridden by Daniel Staeck from post three and is priced at $21.00 at Sportsbet.

The remaining entrants are Wall Street (barrier 6), Le Remas (barrier 8) and Dance With Her (barrier 7).
