Blue Diamond Stakes Barrier Draw and Betting Odds
February 19, 2013
Darley filly Guelph must overcome a wide barrier in the $1 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday. The Peter Snowdens-trained two-year-old has drawn unlucky barrier 13 alongside stablemate Metastasio in 12 while her main betting rival, Miracles Of Life starts from the inside gate.
Jockey Kerrin McEvoy chose to ride Guelph which has eased in the betting to $3.30 with Sportingbet and Glen Boss will be on board Mestasio, $7.50 at Sportingbet. Snowden’s strong hand is completed by Montsegur ridden by Christian Reith, drawn 8 and $35 at Luxbet.
Unbeaten Miracles Of Life, trained by Daniel Clarkson, will be the first runner in over a decade to come from one of the three inside barriers if she lands the odds of $3.50 at bet365.
Caulfield trainer Peter Moody has four runners; Preview winner Dissident ($26 Luxbet) drew wide in 15, Kona Breeze (10), Thermal Current (6) and Quest For Peace (7) were a mixed bag. His jockeys will be Luke Nolen, Brett Prebble, Vlad Duric and Daniel Stackhouse, although he is yet to determine who will ride which juvenile. Thermal Current finished third behind Dissident at Caulfield and is the bookmakers’ pick of Moody’s entries, $7.50 at Sportingbet.
Mark Kavanagh accepted with Saturday’s impressive Talindert Stakes winner Casquet but the filly drew the outside barrier 16 and has been scratched to leave 15 runners to contest the Caulfield showpiece.
