A-League Predictions: Under 2.5 Goals looks a value bet in Brisbane Roar v Sydney FC clash

Sydney FC are looking for a record-equalling seventh straight A-League victory to keep their 100% record alive, facing Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium.

Recommended bet: Under 2.5 Goals @ 23/20 (2.15) with William Hill

Sydney FC put their 100% record on the line as they seek what would be a record-equalling seventh straight A-League victory at the Suncorp Stadium against Brisbane Roar.

The Sky Blues excellent early season form shouldn’t detract from the fact that it’s also been a perfectly decent start to the new A-League campaign by Brisbane Roar, with 11-points on the board after six matches to leave them third in the table.

The main concern for the Roar has been a relative lack of goals, with just six being scored to date.  That’s not a figure that bodes well when coming up against a Sydney defence that has conceded just twice all season and none in three matches on the road.

It didn’t help Roar’s cause that star striker Jamie Maclaren missed the 1-1 draw away to Adelaide United at the weekend as a result of his call-up for the Socceroos World Cup qualifying game in Thailand.  They desperately need the 23-year-old to return from international duty unscathed.

Sydney extended their winning start to the season to six wins from six matches following Sunday’s 4-1 win at home to Perth Glory, with Serbian midfielder Miloš Ninkovi? scoring twice and creating another.

The Sky Blues’ A-League dominance this term is apparent not just in their results, but in their having already scored 17 goals whilst conceding just two.  As a result, they travel to Brisbane already holding a healthy six-point cushion at the top of the table as a consequence of their flying start.

Should Graham Arnold’s side secure victory in Brisbane, they will draw level with Melbourne Victory’s record of seven successive wins in their 2006-07 title-winning season.

Brisbane might struggle to score goals, but they have also only conceded seven times themselves.  At the Suncorp Stadium their defence has only been breached on two occasions in three games.

This looks as though it could potentially be Sydney’s toughest game of the season to date. With two strong defensive set-ups on show, goals could be at a premium here and Under 2.5 Goals at 23/20 (2.15) with William Hill bookmakers looks worth a look.
