A League Odds: Punters Move On Heart
October 11, 2012
Punters have been making a move on Melbourne Heart ahead of the game against Wellington Phoenix in round two of the Hyundai A League on Sunday.
Phoenix will be missing seven players on international duty with New Zealand and the Solomon Islands and Wellington’s odds have been on the drift all week as punters pile into Heart.
Ben Hawes, spokesman for sportsbet.com.au said: “Wellington have drifted from $3.40 out to $5.50 since the market was opened on Monday morning. With the Phoenix missing so many first team players and the fact they’re playing away from home saw savvy punters move quickly to get on the Heart,”
Heart will be close to full strength for the game at AAMI Park and full of confidence following last week’s stunning 2-1 win in the Melbourne derby at Etihad Stadium. Punters were quick to spot the value at $2.00 and John Aloisi’s men have firmed to $1.61 as they look for consecutive victories.
Title contenders Wellington spoiled Alessandro Del Piero’s A League welcome party with a convincing 2-0 win against Sydney FC at Westpac Stadium. But the team will have a completely different look in Melbourne at the weekend.
In addition to the international players, Phoenix have four players unavailable through injury. Coach Rickie Herbert will also be away and leaves assistant Chris Greenacre and the coaching team in charge of the depleted squad.
