A-League Betting: Over 3.5 Goals looks the bet between Perth Glory and Melbourne City

It is the final game of the regular season in the Hyundai A-League as Perth Glory are hosting Melbourne City for a game that could be a rehearsal for the Elimination Finals play-offs.

Recommended bet: Over 3.5 Goals @ 19/20 (1.95) with William Hill

The final match of the regular season in the Hyundai A-League sees Perth Glory play host to Melbourne City at nib Stadium.

It’s a game that could potentially be a rehearsal for the Elimination Finals play-offs, with there being a definite possibility that the two could meet again at the next stage.

Glory can still secure a top four finish and claim home advantage in those play-offs, but they will either need to beat City by a four-goal margin or hope that Brisbane Roar lose at home to Wellington Phoenix (preferably by a few goals) and then beat City. Either way, Glory must win this game if they are to have any hope of playing another game at the nib Stadium in the play-offs.

Kenny Lowe’s team returned to winning ways with a 3-1 win at home to Brisbane Roar last weekend, a result that ended a mini slump that had seen them collect just two points from their previous four league matches.

City also got back on track after a couple of defeats last week, beating the outgoing champions Adelaide United 1-0 at AAMI Park through a first-half Tim Cahill goal.

The previous two meetings of these teams this season were both high-scoring, with Glory winning 3-2 at AAMI Park back in October courtesy of a hat-trick from Irish striker Andy Keogh, before battling back from a goal deficit on three occasions to secure a 3-3 draw at the same stadium just after Christmas. This time it will be Glory who have home advantage, but goals could again be on the agenda.

There have been four or more goals in seven of the previous eight meetings between these two teams in all competitions and with Glory having to go all out for a big win, it should be an open game. Frankly, with Glory already assured of a playoff spot, they have little to lose in throwing everything they have at City.

For their part, City should get plenty of opportunities on the counter attack as Glory go chasing those goals, so backing ‘Over 3.5 Goals’ in this game looks well worth a bet.
