2013 Hollindale Stakes Betting Preview

Thirteen horses will contest the 2013 Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast Racecourse today over a staying distance of 1,800 metres.

With a purse of $300,000 the Hollindale Stakes regularly attracts competitive horses and this year is no different with Neville Sellwood Stakes winner Lights of Heaven leading the betting at 3.00 closely followed by Foreteller at 3.40.

Third in the Canterbury stakes at Rosehill in March, Solzhenitsyn could be a tempting bet at 4.20 along with Doncaster Mile fifth Danleigh who can be backed at 7.50. Lamasery was below par in the Ajax Stakes earlier this week and is available at 8.50 while Stout Hearted will be looking to build on a decent run at Randwick last month and is available at 13.00 along with Lightinthenite who wasn’t far behind Danleigh in the Doncaster Mile.

Lights of Heaven missed out by a nose after a thrilling duel with last year’s winner Shez Sinsational and was unlucky again when finding Mawingo a neck too strong a fortnight later in the Doomben Cup. But the top staying mare trained by Peter Moody reversed those placings with a fantastic run in last year’s Brisbane Cup and looks to be the one to beat today.

Punters will be taking note of the top performers in this race with one eye on future events such as the BTC Cup and Doomben Cup in the coming weeks and a thrilling contest is anticipated.
